And I’m just gonna listen to him talk. Incredible designer who penned one of my favorite cars ever, the Maserati Ghibli. Can’t wait to meet him.

He did the commencement speech for my class at CCS in 2003. Sad to say it was a horrible, self-aggrandizing, long-winded fart.

He’s also responsible for the Iso Grifo, one of my favorite Italian cars ever.
Interestingly, there’s some speculation that it may have been he, rather than Gandini, who was initially responsible for the design of the Miura. I think the story goes that the both he and Gandini worked for Bertone at the time, in the early 60's. It’s said that Giugiaro penned the initial basic design that would come to be the Miura, but eventually left before the car went into production. Gandini picked up the basic design and ran with it, evolving it into the final iteration of the Miura that debuted at Geneva in 1966.
So while Gandini gets credit for the finished product (and perhaps rightly so), Giugiaro gets an unspoken credit for the basic design.

Oh boy, would I have a lot of questions for him. I believe he did the first Golf, for my money one of the best designs of all time.

Amazing! I wish I had such a chance...he’s designed some of my favorite Italians....the little FIAT Panda, the FIAT 850 Spider, the Lancia Delta...and SO many purdy Alfas....I will be there with you in spirit friend!
